Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently put to another blog entry at this site:
We see time and again by countless studies that market timing has been a failure.
Please show me the URL of one.
Wade has a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton. He spent a good deal of time trying to find ONE legitimate study showing that long-term timing is not required. He found nothing.
This so shocked him that he did not trust his own finding. He went to the Bogleheads Forum and asked if anyone there was aware of a single study showing that there is no need to engage in long-term timing. Not one member of that community had ever heard of a single such study.
Not John Bogle.
Not Bill Bernstein.
Not Larry Swedroe.
Not RIck Ferri.
Not anyone.

When you posts crap like this, it is no wonder why people won’t comment on your site. You are a nut case.

You keep deleting the links.
That’s it. I keep deleting the links.
I need to try hard to stop doing that.

It was unfair of me to ask the Buy-and-Holders to provide the URL for a study supporting their key claim.
There’s no excuse.
It won’t happen again.

I am sure you need to keep deleting material as you site is filled with comments from all your supporters, right?
You are a complete joke, Rob.

Will do, Slanegirl.

You are a complete joke, Rob.
The true joke is the idea that there is anyone who cares about the millions of middle-class people who lost their jobs in the economic crisis, Anonymous.
What matters most is that Saint Jack Bogle and his Wall Street friends never, ever have to acknowledge a mistake.
I mean, come on.

Face it, Rob. No one gives a crap as to what you say or want. You are considered a joke. You don’t even come close to having your name mentioned alongside of John, Larry, Bill, etc.
You live in your own little fantasy world in which you make up stories and a few people come along just to have a good laugh at your expense.
Meanwhile, your lack of financial success speaks volumes to your lack of expertise. Why would you expect anyone to take you seriously when your own financial performance is dismal.

Why would you expect anyone to take you seriously
Because I am honest, Deleted.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. A lot of the Wall Street Con Men are wishing today that they had been honest all along. Now they face billions in legal liabilities for continuing to push the smelly Buy-and-Hold garbage for 32 years after the peer-reviewed academic research was published showing that there is precisely zero chance that a Buy-and-Hold strategy could ever work for a single long-term investor.
Honesty matters. Yes, even in the investing advice field.
Your rage comes through in your every post. And your anger. And your shame. And your self-loathing.
All of that is rooted in your lack of honesty. To yourself. To others.
I am happy to extend the hand of kindness to you and to all my other Buy-and-Hold friends. But I am not able to agree to your demands that I engage in financial fraud myself. It’s a positive for me to help you on your way to a better place. It is a negative for me to go down into the same pit you reside in today.
Honesty will prevail in the end.
And we will never, ever look back.
When Buy-and-Hold dies, it dies forever.
I wish you well, man.

Why do you keep deleting posts, Rob?
Rob says
Because it’s my job, Goon.
I put forward a post on November 23, 2002, urging that John Greaney be removed from our community. That’s not deleting a single post, it is deleting an entire postER.
Had Greaney been removed back then, he wouldn’t be on his way to a prison sentence today.
Neither would you.
Neither would lots of others.
We are in the jam we are in today because lots of people didn’t do their jobs.
Motley Fool didn’t do its job. Index Universe didn’t do its job. Morningstar didn’t do its job.
The money was always too good.
I have made a pledge to my fellow community members that I will not make the same mistake, Goon.
My warmest wishes to you and yours.

And yet more confirmation that Buy and Hold is the way to go and messages that say otherwise is “Crazy Talk”.

Please put me down as the foremost speaker of “Crazy Talk” alive on Planet Earth today, Anonymous. I’d like to think that even my Goon friends agree that I have earned that designation at this point in the proceedings.
And please take good care, my old friend.
