Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently posted to the discussion thread for another blog entry at this site:
What is YOUR definition of “honest posting”. Is there some measure as to the posting being truthful and, if not, it is to be banned?
Honest posting takes place when the poster says what he believes.
You believe in Buy-and-Hold. So you should say “I follow Buy-and-Hold and I urge others to follow Buy-and-Hold.”
I believe in Valuation-Informed Indexing. So I should say “I follow Valuation-Informed Indexing and I urge others to follow Valuation-Informed Indexing.”
The only thing that should be banned are violations of the published posting rules.

One aspect of expertise in the investing advice realm is staying up to date on the peer-reviewed research. Bogle is 36 years behind the curve. Nobel-prize-winning economist Robert Shiller published his “revolutionary” (his word) research findings in 1981. Bogle has not yet made one change in the Buy-and-Hold strategy as a result of what he learned about how stock investing as a result of Shillers revolutionary findings.
I consider myself an expert in this field only in relative terms to someone like Bogle. I have incorporated Shiller’s findings into the Valuation-Informed Indexing model. So I am decades ahead of Bogle and anyone else who continues to recommend Buy-and-Hold strategies to this day. But I am not a true expert because I do not have training in this field. Nor do I have any desire to acquire expertise in this field.
My aim is to open up every discussion board and blog on the internet to honest posting re safe withdrawal rates and scores of other investment-related topics so that the people who have acquired training can tell us what they truly believe and can talk things over with other experts and thereby learn more.
There is no such thing as a true expert in the investing field today. The field has become too corrupt for true expertise to exist. What we have is people exploiting the Get Rich Quick urge of millions of investors to turn a quick buck, nothing more and nothing less. There are lots of people who long to be experts, who would prefer to post honestly and to learn and to help people. But you Goons smash them down wherever they appear. To make those people feel safe to demonstrate true expertise, we need to as a society insist on the announcement of prison terms for those who have posted in “defense” of Mel Linduaer and John Greaney and Jack Bogle.
That’s my sincere take this terribly important matter, in any event.
I wish you all good things, Goon friend.
