Rob Bennett is the author of Passion Saving: The Path to Plentiful Free Time and Soul-Satisfying Work. The book argues that the difference between effective savers and ineffective savers is that effective savers save for a goal other than the financing of an old-age retirement. Effective savers pursue saving goals that enhance their enjoyment of life in their 30s, 40s, and 50s as well as in their 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Rob is working on a second book, to be entitled Investing for Humans: The Path to Plentiful Free Time and Soul-Satisfying Work. This book rejects the Passive Investing model for understanding how stock investing works. It argues that, since valuation levels always affect long-term returns, it is critical that investors adjust their stock allocations to reflect changes in the risk/reward profile of stocks that come with changes in valuation levels. Rob advocates Valuation-Informed Indexing, a non-passive approach to indexing that the historical stock-return data shows provides long-term results far superior to those provided by conventional indexing strategies.
