I’ve added Podcast #12 to the “RobCasts” section of the site. This one is called Market Timing — What Works and What Doesn’t.
I can tell you this much. It doesn’t argue that it’s a bad idea to time the market. It doesn’t argue in favor of Passive Investing.

How do I get this on itunes?
Thanks for asking, B.
It’s not available today on ITunes because I haven’t yet gone through the steps I need to go through to make that happen. That one is on my list. You’re the third person who has asked me this. So I see that I need to push it up higher on the list and make a special effort to get this done soon.
My problem is that I enjoy recording them so much more than I enjoy figuring out the technical steps I need to go through to make it possible for others to listen to them in a convenient way. Like a good number of the other humans, I’ve got a selfish side!
For those who don’t have much background re Podcasts, I believe that the benefit of being on ITunes is that people could download the PodCasts onto their players and then listen when they are running or whatever rather than having to be on a computer. That’s obviously a big plus.
The downside is that listening to what I say about how stocks are likely to perform in coming years might cause some Passive Investing types to run in front of a truck. Maybe I should hold back on this idea for a bit afterall. (I’m kidding.)
Rob
It is amazing to see how far people will go to condemn market timing. Thanks for an excellent example.
Any distortion seems within reach. Fuzz up the distinction between the short term and the long term. Claim that the warning against “this time is different” means that you should buy now, regardless of price.
Have fun.
