I’ve added Podcast #76 to the “RobCasts” section of the site. It’s called The Stock-Selling Industry.
It’s not bad to try to sell stuff. But it’s certainly a bad idea for us to operate under the idea that those trying to sell us stuff are always acting solely in our best interests when they describe how stock investing works.

Rob,
Don’t expect any benefit from Government involvement with the stock market. At best, it will reflect and enforce the old academic passive investing dogma. At worst, the Government overseers haven’t a clue.
Consider Treasury Secretary Paulson’s advice to banks: cut dividends to buy other banks and improve growth! Then look at what has happened.
The Federal Reserve makes numerous studies involving stock market performance. It is amazing: they always seem to assume that investors will do something much different from what real life investors do.
Have fun.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, John.
You may be right. It may be that I am too optimistic re this one (and I am not entirely optimistic).
I go back and forth re this one.
Rob
Hocus was right–very easy to believe.
Have fun.
