Recent blog entries have reported on my correspondence with www.IndexUniverse.com in an effort to have an article on Valuation-Informed Indexing published at the site. Set forth below are the texts of one e-mail that I sent on on January 30, 2008, one that I sent on February, 2008, and one that I sent on February 5, 2008, followed by one sent by Jim Wiandt on February 5, 2008, and one sent by Matt Hougan on February 5, 2008.
Matt:
I have submitted an article to Jim Wiandt entitled “A New Approach to ‘Staying the Course.’ ” He has told me that he is sending it around internally and that you are my proper point of contact.
Please let me know if there is anything that I need to do at this point or if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you.
Rob
Matt:
Could you please give me a status report on where the article stands?
Rob
Jim:
I sent an e-mail to Matt immediately after receiving your e-mail below. I have not yet received a response.
I sent Matt a follow-up e-mail yesterday, and I have not heard a response to that one either.
Any thoughts as to how best to proceed at this point?
Rob
Hi Rob:
I just emailed Matt right now requesting that he follow up with you on this.
Jim
Rob –
Thanks for the submission, and for your patience in awaiting a reply.
I’ve reviewed the article. My general sense is that it would need a dose of academic rigor before we would add it to the site. We really like our columnists to break new ground AND to support that with hard data (think charts, tables, and return series). If you revisited the piece and added in strong data and such, I’d be willing to look at it again.
Best regards,
Matt Hougan
