Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently posted to the discussion thread for another blog entry at this site:
If you have proof of any laws that have broken, then bring them to the police. It needs to be real proof, not like the made up death threats you have been trying to peddle.
I brought it to the police in 2002. A policeman came to my house and wrote up a report. He asked me to show him the death threats and I did so. He asked me if I thought that one of you Goons was really going to kill one of my loved ones or if it was just talk. I said that it was my personal belief that the motive was to silence me and others and that I did not personally think it likely that one of you Goons would commit murder. But I said that it scared my wife that people were threatening on a public discussion board to murder her and our children and that anyone who makes such a threat is by definition crazy, so there is no way to know for sure what they will do.
Such threats do not have a place in discussions of Shiller’s Nobel-prize-winning research. Such intimidation tactics have been holding us all (every investor on the plant) back for 20 years now. It is my strongly held belief that we all need to work up the courage to stand up to you Goons so that the use of such intimidation tactics becomes a thing of the past. So long as they continue to work for you, you will continue to make use of them. Millions of people are getting hurt.. So mote of us needf to work up the courage to stand up to you. I believe that it will happen in the days following the next price crash. We’ll see.

We read the post. It was not a threat, it was about personal safety. Also, you, nor your family, was even mentioned in the post. You know this and that is why you always avoid posting a link.
Discussions of gun safety have no place in discussions of whether or not it is necessary to take valuations into consideration when calculating the safe withdrawal rate. Buy-and-Hold is not a real thing, it is a marketing gimmick. If Buy-and-Hold were a real thing, one of the Buy-and-Holders would have advanced some reason for believing that market timing is not always required a long, long time ago.
Buy-and-Holders don’t want to discuss this question because there is no reason for believing that and there never could be. It is an absurdity. Every market that has ever existed has required price discipline to function properly and market timing is the means by which price discipline is applied to the stock market.
That’s my sincere take re these terribly important matters, in any event.
My best and warmest wishes to you and yours.

So you now admit it was a discussion about gun safety. Also, the thread was not about safe withdrawal rates to begin with. You do know that people discuss a large variety of topics in casual conversations.
The entire board community was at the time engaged in discussion of my famous post from the morning of May 13, 2002, in which I asked whether we should be taking valuations into consideration when calculating the safe withdrawal rate. There is no rational case that can be made for not doing so. That’s why the Buy-and-Holders desperately turned to discussions of gun safety. If Buy-and-Hold were a real thing, they would feel no need to do things like that.
The battle is between reason and emotion. Research-based strategies can be defended without the use of gun safety discussions, Buy-and-Hold cannot.
