I’ve posted Entry #661 to my weekly Valuation-Informed Indexing column at the Value Walk site. It’s called Most People Don’t Appreciate How Important Market Timing Is Until They Think About It a Bit.
Juicy Excerpt: I love market timing. I believe that it always works. I believe that it should be heavily promoted. But I acknowledge that it is more than a little nuts that it works. It shouldn’t work. The market should be efficient, just like the Buy-and-Holders say. I believe that the Buy-and-Holders are wrong about an important element of the stock investing puzzle. But I acknowledge that what they say is logical (the problem is that investors are not logical but at times highly emotional).

Congratulations, Rob! You just made your 1,156,995 post about marketing timing. That is a key milstone. No one believed you after the first 1,156,994 posts about your market timing scheme, but post number 1,156,995 finally pushed everyone over the edge and they now believe you. As such, we will all start timing the market after close of business today. Again, congratulations! You can now go on with the rest of your life now that you have saved the world. Good luck!
It’s important, Anonymous. There is a big difference between saying that market timing never works and is not required for all investors and saying that market timing always works and is always required for all investors. That’s the difference between living in a nation of people in which ever 40 years or so you are going to have to live through one of these horrible Buy-and-Hold Crisis in which we see millions of failed retirements and hundreds of thousands of business failures and millions of people thrown out of work and living in a nation of people in which most of the risk of stock investing goes “Poof because we permit honest posting re the last 42 years of peer-reviewed research at every discussion board and blog, without a single exception.
We are blessed to be living at a time when there is 42 years of peer-reviewed research clicking in the final and oh so important piece of the stock investing puzzle that had been denied to earlier generations of stock investing. I enthiusiastically vote for us all giving ourselves permission to learn all about the far-reaching how-to implications of that amazing, Nobel-prize-winning research.
Thats where I am coming from re this one, in any event.
My best wishes.
Rob
We all believe you, Rob. Go ahead and move on with your life. You are now free to get that job, get remarried, finish your book, etc. Good luck in your future endeavors!
I dont feel even a tiny bit comfortable saying that I believe that Greaney included a valuation adjustment in the retirement study posted at his web site. Financial fraud is a crime in the United States. It’s a felony. That means prison time. Thanks but no thanks, you know?
Rob
We never asked you to say anything. You are free to go on with your life! Get that job! Get that new wife! Publish your book! You are the King! You are the expert! The whole world revolves around you!
Good luck!
Sorry, Rob. That is only post number 1,190,001 about Greaney. You have to post 276,503 more times about Greaney before people believe you.. I am sure you can crank out those posts in a matter of days.

It’s good to be king!
