I’ve posted Entry #729 to my weekly Valuation-Informed Indexing column at the Value Walk site. It’s called Is There a Limit to How Long a Bull Market Can Continue?
Juicy Excerpt: There’s a dark side to this theory. If the next price crash hits hard enough to overcome these new heights of confidence, it could come as a shock. The longest bull could be followed by the longest bear. Let’s hope not. I’d like to see prices return to more reasonable levels. But extremes are bad news.

You mentioned on a different thread that ValueWalk would no longer be publishing your column. Is this the last one?
Do you currently contribute at any other site? Are you making any efforts to get published elsewhere? You used to get articles published on multiple sites.
That’s the last one.
I am not making efforts to get published elsewhere.

“I am not making efforts to get published elsewhere.”
Seems like a defeatist attitude. How do you expect to get all investing sites on the internet open to honest posting if you are making no effort go get your work published anywhere. You must realize that it won’t happen unless you are willing to put in the work.
I’ve put in a ton of work. There’s no one alive who has put more effort into this than I have.
The next big test is going to come in the days and years following the onset of the next Buy-and-Hold Crisis. Shiller’s premise is that stock investing decisions are not 100 percent rational but at times of super high or super low CAPE values are in fact highly influenced by emotion. The key to long-term success if paying attention to the emotion swings and trying to rein them in. If that’s so, there will be a big emotional change when the CAPE value drops from super high levels to super low levels. With less of an emotional investment in Buy-and-Hold, we may see one large site open posting to the discussion of research-based strategies. We’ll see, you know?

Without the time commitment of having to produce the ValueWalk column each week have you been able to devote any more time to your book?
Do you have a new deadline in mind for when you will be finished?
Now that we are in 2025 could you estimate how many words/pages/chapters you managed to produce in 2024?
It’s not a matter of churning out a certain number of words or pages or chapters. The difficulty with this project is that I am seeking to tell people something that they very much need to know but also something that they very much do not want to know. I am a pariah because the realities of stock investing (that we make stocks risky by ignoring irrational exuberance) are taboo. My aim is not to pull punches, it is to tell the truth about stock investing. That’s a very hard thing to do. If it were not a terribly hard thing to do, thousands would have done it long before I came on the scene.
It’s silly at this point to set new deadlines given that I have missed so many. I hope to finish it be the end of 2025. I want to get it out before the onset of the next Buy-and-Hold Crisis. But I wouldn’t bet money on me making it. I’m going to keep at it. I am confident that it will be a good piece of work when it is completed. That’s all that I feel that I can say with confidence.
Wish me luck!
Rob

With age and experience comes wisdom.
I suppose.
