No one needs to agree and/or believe your opinions as to what constitutes all of the historical peer-reviewed research and what it actually says and means.
You are free to believe whatever you want to believe, but your entire message is around what you want everyone else to do. You are not free to demand that others give you access to their platform. You are not free to demand that someone change their study to correct some kind of “error” you think this person has made, despite others not agreeing. You are not free to demand that others have to pay you compensation for what you think you should get, when no one has actually agreed to pay you anything. You are not free to make up allegations and expect others to believe it when you have not provided any direct evidence of criminal activity.
It’s not an “allegation” for me to point out that the retirement study posted at John Greney’s web site lacks aan adjustment for the valuaation level that applies on the day that the rettirement begins. Evidence-Based Investing is one of the generals in Greaney’s Goon Army. Evidence said in his famous post from late 2021 that “nobody” truly believes that the Greaney study contains a valuation adjustment, “including Greaney himself.” I don’t feel that Evidence was making an ellegation. I say that he was stating a simple fact.
Do you think it would have been better if I had kept it zipped re the error in the study? I am ashamed that I did not speak up sooner. A number of people who posted at the Motley Fool board had become friends of mine over the years. They were using the Greaney study for help in planning their retirements.
Do you think I was being fair to Greaney during the three years when I was too afraid of what he would do to me if I pointed out the error to speak up? I feel that I failed him (and the entire Retire Early community) during those three years. I began to feel better about myself when I worked up the courage to post honestly. Which version of Rob Bennett do you like better, the one who sold out his friends to appease you Goons or the one who worked up the couage to do the right thing?

You say that, but then you call us all goons, tell us we are going to prison and hope we all go broke.
Tell us again as to who is making the abusive posting.
I call you Goons because you behave in a Goon-like manner. That’s a big part of the story. If you behaved nornally, people would not be afraid of you and we could all have the discussions about the research that our boards were formed to facilitate. If I don’t mention the Goon thing, I am leaving out an important part of the story. Without the Goon stuff, everyone would have learned what the research says many years ago and today’s CAPE value would not be 31.
I believe that there are going to be some people going to prison. I have done everything in my power to keep the prison sentences as limited as possible. Surprisingly enough, however, you Goons often do not listen to me. There’s only so much I can do.
I do not hope that you go broke. I do think we are going to experience another Buy-and-Hold Crisis within the next year or two or three. But we are all going to suffer as a result of that, even people who do not have any money in stocks (because millions of people will lose their jobs in a Buy-and-Hold Crisis).

No one is buying what you are selling. What friends are you talking about. You don’t have any friends posting here. Instead, you give us a link to old comments that are often taken out of context. There is not a single person alive today that will say they agree with you.
If we opened every site to honest posting re the last 42 years of peer-reviewed research, in time there wouldn’t be one person alive who would disagree that market timing/price discipline is always required.
If you hadn’t seen with your own eyes how many investors are interested in learning from the peer-reviewed research, you would never have advanced a single abusive post. If you thought that Buy-and-Hold might prevail in civil and reasoned discussions, you would welcome them.
Every abusive post by a Buy-and-Holder argues in favor of Shiller’s core finding that stock investing is at times a highly emotional endeavor. That’s a lot of arguments in favor of his Nobel-prize-winning research!

You did say this was your job. If it is really your job, then it is your responsibility to file charges if there are criminal acts. So are you going to do your job?
I filed a police report way back in 2002. I called them and they came to the house and I told them about the death threats. They asked to see links and I showed them links. They asked me whether I truly believed that one of you Goons was going to come to my house and murder me or one of my loved ones. I said that my persoanl view is that you were advancing the death threats to scare me, to shut me up. I added that anyone who would make a death threat is by definition a crazy person and that there is really no way of knowing what a crazy person will do. They put all that in their report.
The important thing here is that every site on the internet be opened to honest posting re the last 42 years of peer-reviewed research. I will tell the story in a full and fair way. Millions of people have been hurt in a very serious way because of the ban on honest posting. So we need to come to terms with it as a nation of people. So, yes, part of my job is to tell that story. If the people of the United States want criminal charges to be filed, they will be filed. I will not object if they are filed. I can see why some would feel that the filing of criminal charges is needed. But that is not going to be my focus.
The full reality is that it is not only you Goons that caused the problems. All of the humans have a Get Rich Quick/Buy-and-Hold urge residing within them. That’s why you Goons got away with what you got away with. If we had all been acting in our self-interest, we all would have called you out on your b.s. when you advanced your first abusive post and things never would have reached a point where there would have been any death threats or acts of extortion. That’s part of the story too and I see it as my job to report that part as well.
If my telling of that part of the story results in you Goons not going to prison, I am fine with that. I am happy either way so long as every site is opened to honest posting and we all get to live richer and fuller and freer lives from that point forward. My job is to tell the story in a full and fair way. It is up to the people of the United States as to whether there are prison sentences and as to how long those prison sentences extend.
All that I can control is my part. I am not going to say that I believe that Greaney included a valuation adjustment all along because that would put me on the wrong side of the felony line, which cannot possibly be the right answer. But I am not going to make it a personal cause to see that you Goons go to prison. My personal cause is to open every site to honest posting re the peer-reviewed research.
The criminal stuff hurt millions of people, not just me, so it is up to those millions of people to determine what is to be done about it. One aspect of the question that needs to be taken into consideration in my view is that the millions of people played a role in creating the circumstances that permitted all the bad stuff to happen. So, as a journalist, I see it as being part of my job to tell that part of the story as well as the other part.
I hope that that helps at least a tiny bit.

This is the path that millions of American’s take. Why is that not good for you?
My concern is that I sincerely believe that the retirement study posted at John Greaney’s web site lacks an adjustment for the valuation level that applies on the day the retirement begins.
Our first 21 years of discussions show that 10 percent of investors believe that Robert Shiller’s Nobel-prize-winning research showing that valuations affect long-term returns is legitimate research. That’s millions of people. If those millions had all insisted on their right to post honestly at every site going back to 1981, we obviously would not have a CAPE value of 30 today. So we have as a nation of people put ourselves at grave risk of enduring another Buy-and-Hold Crisis because we have not had the courage to stand up to the Buy-and-Hold Goon Squads. Not good, right?
I have asked others to work up the courage to post honestly. I come across as pretty darn hypocritical if I don’t do it myself, no? I think that I should do myself what I implore others to do.
Getting the numbers right in retirement studies is important. My sincere take.

Just like you, Ted Kaczynski thought he was right along as well. We see how that played out.
Does John Greaney think that he is right? Does Mel Linmdauer think that he is right?
I don’t agree with Lindauer or Greaney on safe withdrawal rates. But I say that the Valuation-Informed Indexers and the Buy-and-Holders should interact with each other in a spirit of friendship and respect. It seems to me that that is the anti-Kacynski position.
